IPA First

IPA,
the International
Phonetic Alphabet,
is the universal
doorway to literacy.

First learn IPA,
with or without a teacher,
with or without tech.

Then learn
your local language script
more easily.

If your language was unwritten,
use IPA to write your own language.

This offers
basic phonetic literacy
to all.

If you know other people
who do not know their letters:

Please print
this PDF (1 page, 2-sided),
and share it with them.

And say:

Study this together.
Puzzle out every letter's sound,
one letter at a time,
maybe one a day.
Get paper and pencil.
Practice making each letter
many times,
while saying the sound.
It will not be easy,
but it will be possible.

Tom Veatch made this
for you. You can do it.

Please help each other,
until everyone can do it.
